Um, that hurts

A few weeks before I left for school I had cut my toe nails, just like I always do, but this time something went wrong. I am not even sure what, but the corner of my big toe had been red and hurting. So I went to “Dr. Mom” and she said it was an ingrown toe nail.

I got some sort of medication to put on it with this special little band-aid setup, but that didn’t seem to do what it was suppose to. So on Saturday I noticed that it was getting really red and starting to just not look good. Great, I am at school and now I have to find a doctor to take care of this for me.

Forget the health center on campus, that is a waste of time. The last time I went there which was the only time I was there, the doctor first, hit on me, then gave me medicine that wasn’t correct and didn’t solve the problem. Not going to do that again.

The urgent care here in Staunton isn’t that bad. It definitely isn’t the newest of buildings like my doctors office at home is, so that had me a little worried. But once I finally got into see someone I realized that this was going to turn out okay.

My dear friend Ashley came with me, first of all she is a healthcare major and knows anything healthcare related. But she was also there to hold my hand when the doctor, who Ashley claims was pretty cute, numbed my toe and started to work on it. Ashley was great, she talked to me about anything while the doc was working. The doctor was even super nice about the whole thing, I told him right off the bat that I had issues with doctors and not to take it personally. He totally understood and made things much better. I guess if I hadn’t been in pain and near the brink of passing out, I would agree with Ashley’s statement about him being cute. Maybe. But I really didn’t care how the person looked, I just wanted to make sure they knew what the hell they were doing.

It could have been worse, but it wasn’t and I survived going to the doctor without my parents. So now I have antibiotics in my system and bandaged big toe. I walk around campus kinda funny, and with these hills it is a challenge. So there you have it, if you were incredibly board and wanted to read about my life, the soga of Sarah’s toe!
