Senior Year

I am beginning to feel the pressure of senior year. It seems like I just cannot get ahead of my work load before something else pops up. Managing my time is something that I have to take very seriously, if I don’t plan on when to get work done, it won’t happen, which is just crazy. Just when I think that I can sit back and relax, I look at my planner and see that there is something that has to be done.

If humans didn’t need sleep, I could actually do all of my work. But I would hate to get into the routine of staying up really late and waking up really early just to work on homework. I get up around 6:30ish, some days earlier, some days later, and I am pretty adamant on being in bed by 11pm. I just need to sleep, I am not one of those people who can function without a good amount of sleep, believe me, I wish I could. I also look at it this way, what is the point of doing something when you can’t give it your %100 effort.

This is my senior year of college, I can’t go back in time a repeat it if something goes wrong, so I am going to enjoy to my fullest. This means trying to get all the work done and get all A’s and being involved in Student Government and numerous clubs and still do extra curricular actives. I am going to give it my best to do it all and do it all well. I know that I can, I just sometimes have moments like this where I just want to crawl into bed a stay there until May24th.

A small preview

This picture was taken on Founders Day last Thursday. Founders Day is when the President of the college officially welcomes us to the MBC class of 2009. It is the first time that we don our cap and gown and look toward our future as college seniors. I won’t wear this again until May 24, 2009, which is when I will graduate from this place that I have called home for four wonderful years, I can’t imagine being any where else.

One Could Say That I am busy

Today I had to go and buy a new planner. Not because I lost the free planner that I get at the beginning of the year, no. I had to buy a new planner because the one that I get at the beginning of the year doesn’t give me enough room to write down all the things that I have to do in one day. I realize that was a run on sentence, but this is just the way my life is, one incredibly long run on sentence.

Normally I love my MBC planner, it has all of the dates for school already in it and has pictures of friends, but the boxes for each day are small. They didn’t use to be so small but I guess the more involved I get, the more I have to write down. I don’t just write down appointments or assignments that are due, I write down everything. Some days I feel like I have to write in when to go pee or I might just forget. Now I know that I will never forget to go pee, but you see this just proves how busy I am.

Somehow I think that when I have job I won’t be as busy. But then I think, no I will be just as busy because that is the type of person I am. If I am not going 50MPH from the moment I wake up in the morning, I think that something must be wrong.

So that was my morning, re organizing my life and thinking about how fast time goes and the fact that my undergraduate degree is almost done. Then off to grad school, woo hoo!

Oh the irony!

MBC was totally the college for me, but it became that even more so after I learned of Apple Day. In case you all forgot, I am an Apple Computer (MAC) geek hard core, although not as much as others I know. But still the same, having a school that celebrates Apple Day is totally cool!

MBC use to be surrounded by apple orchards. Every October for some reason or another the girls would go and pick apples and donate them to homeless shelters. Over the years Apple Day at MBC became more involved, including an official day off from classes.

Today it still has some of the tradition that it did so many years ago. Yesterday started off with piling on a bus to go to an apple orchard to glean apples. After that was the apple day brunch in the Dining Hall, everything had apples in it and it was very yummy. Then during the day is the carnival which is really fun. This year we had pony rides, mechanical bull, dunking for apples, musical chairs, cake walks, a dunk tank, and much more. This is the time for clubs to do a lot of fundraising and get the word out about the club.

The day before over the years been known as Apple Eve, a night in which students seem to think that they need to drink large amounts of alcohol and get in trouble. However this year was quite, no cops were called and all of our Judicial Board reps got some sleep. Attack the Pac is the event that is the new thing to do on Apple Eve, there are Mock-tails severed and many clubs get into some hard core dodge ball action. Yours truly was involved on some of this action, and have decided to never really play the sport. I just run around the court until I either get hit by a ball or am the only one left and just give up!

There you have it, Apple Day. Just one of the many MBC traditions that make this school so special.

Apple Day!

The irony does not escape me that I chose a college that celebrates Apple Day! More information about the day and what I did today will be in a post tomorrow!

Happy Apple Day!
