2008: A review
6. January 2009 by Sarah.
Not much has changed from my last post, still in my PJ’s (although I have gotten dressed since my last post) but instead of the couch I am blogging from my desk in my room. Depending on how long this takes to write I may end up posting from various points in the house.
Since I have had a blog, every January 1st I write a Year in Review type post. The idea isn’t original, many bloggers do the same things, I gathered the idea from a fellow LnHS grad. This year I do intend on including pictures with each month of synopsis. Sit back and enjoy the past year of my life in a blog post!
January
Rang in 2008 with the Webers as normal. It has changed from past years, no little kids, most of the party goers can drink, legally, and the conversations focus on colleges and careers. There were many events to look forward to in 2008, Hannah’s graduation being just one of them. Looked forward to going back to school, having a better roommate makes it so much easier to go back.
February
Long cold month of school and gearing up for Relay For Life. Going to work at the gallery three days a week. End of the month was spring break, which overlapped into March.
March
Spent Spring break in Lexington, VA with Monica and her family. Went shopping and worked on school work, also made Bananas Fosters. March was also the Relay For Life event, it went really great and we raised a lotof money! It was a very long 24hrs, but it was totally worth all the hard work!
April
This month was the last few weeks of classes for the semester. Finals felt like they were never going to arrive. Was inducted to OKD and flew home for the summer. Not a very exciting month.
May
This month I turned 21 and had a blast! Started the day off with orange juice and champagne, then Daddy cooked tacos and celebrated my birthday! At the end of the month Hannah graduated from high school.
June
Pretty slow month here, started my internship at Assembly Women Runners Office. Realized that riding my bike to work was a lot more fun then driving. Did some house-sitting for Kiley again, went to Santa Monica for a day. That was pretty much all that went on, not a particularly exciting month.
July
Monica flew in from VA and we had a great time. Went to Santa Monica, swam in the pool for a day, went down to Hollywood, and loved showing her Cali! This month was also Hannah’s graduation party. Again I house-sat for Kiley and had a fun time hanging out at his place.
August
Flew back to MBC to start my Senior year of college! It was a very exciting and scary time. Daddy accepted a job in Alaska and the Tyndall’s made the decision to move to AK!
September
Hannah started her freshman year at UC Davis. On the first of the month classes started for me.
October
Wore my cap and gown for the first time for MBC’s Founders Day celebration. Traveled to Annapolis MD for Fall break and stayed with neighbors from CA. Enjoyed a Halloween party at the Alum House.
November
Went to Philly for Turkey day and enjoyed some very yummy CA wine.
December
Flew home to CA for a very exciting Christmas. Daddy and Hannah came home as well. Attended Mandi’s wedding, snow in Lancaster, and much more holiday fun!

Apparently I was the only one paying attention to the person taking the pics. This is just a classy picture all around! Thanks Margie, I totally stole this from your facebook page!

“I feel like a grown up!”
24. November 2008 by Sarah.
This weekend was Mandy’s Bridal Shower Tea and Bachelorette party. Oh yeah I had a fun weekend. The tea was so cute and I love eating figure foods! I have pictures, but am to lazy to go and upload them at the moment. I will soon I promise. We played the typical bridal shower games. Even the “create the wedding dress out of toilet paper” game. We split up into teams and oh guess who won?!! Yep, my team won. I was the chosen one to get all dressed up. And we WON! I really don’t like losing, so I am glad we didn’t.
Then it was time for the bachelorette party. We started out with surprising miss Mandy by decorating her car and the apartment. Then we played some games, ate some food, then it was off to the bars! We started at Irish Alley and it was first time that I actually sat at a bar. Catherine, Alanna and I ordered Cosmos, which were incredibly strong, but yummy. Alanna and I were talking and she made the comment as she sipped on her drink, that she felt so much like a grown up at that moment. I do have to agree with her, there we were, one of our best friends getting married in two weeks, we were all dressed up, and drinking Cosmos at the bar. How could you not feel grown up? Then it was off to the Bistro, which was a bar with a live band, lots of people and I had an Appletini, which was so good! After that we called it a night and headed back to our rooms for some sleep.
I think we are growing up, and it is a little scary!

Sunday Morning
17. November 2008 by Sarah.
This morning when I sat down to write a post, I thought it would be something super deep about being a 20 something, getting ready to start a new chapter of my life and so on.
I am sure that there is something profound to say about the above, but for now I will continue watching Love Actually.

Good Times
22. October 2008 by Sarah.
Tonight was the last night of my vacation in Annapolis. I love school and doing all of the work, but I have to remember to take a break here and there and give my head a rest. So tonight Mary made wonderful tacos and I made margaritas. We also had some people from Germany join us for dinner which made it very interesting. It is so fascinating to learn and hear about other countries then my own.

Greetings from Annapolis
20. October 2008 by Sarah.
Fall Break has officially arrived! After getting on the train yesterday afternoon and a small stop in DC, I was finally able to crash at our former neighbors house from Lancaster. They live in a great neighborhood right outside Annapolis and right near the water. Today was spent in downtown Annapolis, shopping and eating. Found a great top at the White House, Black Market store and did some shopping for my former high school teacher, who is now one of Mom’s co-workers. The things I do for people! No seriously, I love shopping! Tomorrow I will hopefully get the chance to see some more of the Navel Academy and maybe meet some people…

A small preview
10. October 2008 by Sarah.
This picture was taken on Founders Day last Thursday. Founders Day is when the President of the college officially welcomes us to the MBC class of 2009. It is the first time that we don our cap and gown and look toward our future as college seniors. I won’t wear this again until May 24, 2009, which is when I will graduate from this place that I have called home for four wonderful years, I can’t imagine being any where else.

Mexican Food, Margartias, Wedding Dresses, and Wedding Cake
30. September 2008 by Sarah.
The East Coast cannot make Mexican food to save its life. There is only place that I enjoy eating Mexican at and that is Don Tequilas in Lexington. This past weekend was spent hanging out with Monica in Lexington. Saturday we went to said restaurant and filled up on beans and rice (I could totally live in Mexico). We of course had to have Margaritas. I normally only like strawberry flavored Margaritas, but the lady who took our order apparently didn’t know what I was talking about (downside of being at a Mexican place, the people can’t talk English). So I went with the regular, which was fantastic by the way.
After there we went to the Palms, had a ginger ale and a few sips of the drinks that Monica ordered. I have come to realize that your closest friends are the ones you go to the bathroom with when it is a one person stall. Good times, good times.
Thinking we were done, we went to Applebees and joined some friends of Monica and Kevin’s there. Again, I had a sip of beer and thought that was going to make me sick (I tell you I am a classy drinker) and then had a dessert shooter, chocolate moose.
Sunday came the bridal show. Once we got up and ready we headed to W&L campus to go to the show and be inspired. Let tell y’all, the best thing about it was the free food. Not only did you get to try little snacks, but you got pieces of wedding cake. An entire piece of wedding cake! In fact I had two! Seriously I would go just for the food. Then there was a fashion show of wedding dresses. I have come to realize that once you have seen 10 dresses, they all start to look the same, however there are exceptions. Monica won the grand prize, a $700 pearl necklace along with a limo rental, a free night at the Hummingbird Inn, and 20% off tux rental.
Now it is Tuesday, with a chance of showers in my forecast, but I don’t have classes tomorrow which is exciting. For all of you who don’t know, it is Apple Day. Yes I realize that irony that my school has Apple Day, but what can I say it is just another reason why MBC is the place for me!

Lets go to the drive in!
27. September 2008 by Sarah.
Have you ever been to a drive in before? Well last night I went to the drive in to watch The House Bunny. The movie was okay, it was the experience that I liked even more. It wasn’t really hot and it was raining just slightly. We folded down the back seats and hand blanket and pillows. The speaker sat right on the window, just like in the movies!
It was so much fun and I would HIGHLY recommend that if you even get the chance to go to a drive in, take it, because they really are going out of style!
All blogs this weekend, if there are anymore, are coming from the great house of Monica who lives in Lexington, who is getting married on June 6th. I am the Maid of Honor and it is going be so wonderful!

Songs stuck in our heads
25. September 2008 by Sarah.
While I was doing my hair yesterday I had this song stuck in my head. It was a song that I use to sing in Sunday School as a kid and then when I was a teacher I had to sing it and teach it to others. The song was called Father Abraham. This is one of those songs that if you sing one line, it will be stuck in your head for the rest of the day. At lunch Sterling told me about a song she had stuck in her head all day, Somebody’s Baby by Jackson Browne. So last night after we got in from our College Republican meeting, we found the lyrics on the Internet to that song and found it on YouTube. We were both sitting at our desks looking at the lyrics and singing. We would have recorded it, but it was late and it would have just come back to haunt us someday. Maybe we will make a recoding of it someday and let you all hear how great we sound. Until then you can settle for the lyrics, which can be found here.
